Collaborations

Altweb

Altweb, the Alternatives to Animal Testing Web Site, was created to serve as a gateway to alternatives news, information, and resources on the Internet and beyond.

Altweb has five practical goals:
1. to provide scientists and others with a means for conducting a completeand appropriate alternatives search from one central, easily accessible location.
2. to serve as a CRP--"central reference point"--for alternatives information, publications, databases, calendars, and other resources.
3. to support the creation and maintenance of new alternative resources as needed, when no other organization can/will do so.
4. to promote the use of alternatives resources by publicizing them on the site and through e-mail or other outreach.
5. to facilitate communication and collaboration among members of the alternatives community, in particular those who work in database or information management.

NORINA

EURCA collaborates with the NORINA database . NORINA (A Norwegian Inventory of Alternatives) is an English-language database available free of charge on the Internet.

The database contains information on over 3,500 audiovisual aids and other alternatives/supplements to the use of animals in teaching and training, at all levels from junior school to University. A satellite database, TextBase (http://oslovet.veths.no/textbase), primarily intended to provide information on laboratory animal science textbooks, also holds details of anatomy and dissection guides that may also be useful in reducing animal numbers. The products cited in NORINA have been categorised into over 30 groups (e.g. computer programs, CD-ROM and video films) and a similar number of biomedical fields (e.g. anatomy, physiology, pharmacology), to facilitate searching the database. There are links in NORINA to those products that are also cited in EURCA's database. The Internet version of NORINA is updated once a month, with a mirror site in Sydney, Australia.

InterNICHE

InterNICHE is an open and diverse network comprising students, teachers and animal campaigners. The network focuses on animal use and alternatives within biological science, medical and veterinary medical education.

There is no membership, but free association around the issue of progressive, humane life science education. InterNICHE works in partnership with any individual, group or department that shares the common goals of replacement of harmful animal use and investment in high quality ethical science
